Patrick J. Adams for Club Monaco

After seeing him for the past three seasons of Suits in contemporary slim fit suits, its quite the switch to see Patrick J. Adams in a pair of relaxed chinos from Club Monaco. The unlikely pair has teamed up for a new campaign featuring the Kennedy classic fit chinos. Adams recently did an interview with the Esquire Style Blog that you can read here.

A Go Anywhere Pair of Shoes: TOMS Paseo

Staying cool and stylish during the summer isn’t always easy to do, and picking the right pair of shoes can make or break you. The always classic is the boat shoe, but if that isn’t your style or you just want to switch it up, a sweet pair of sneakers will work just as well. Think casual day at the boardwalk and save the athletic sneakers for the gym. Some of my personal favorites this summer are a new style from TOMS: the Paseo. A far cry from their Classic style and slightly more modern and clean looking than the Cordones, the Paseos have laces with three pairs of eyelets and come in a variety of classic colors. Not to mention they have more support and feel more like sneakers than TOMS.

These shoes can go anywhere and with anything. From the beach to the boat to around town, these shoes can fit almost any setting. Not to mention they look good with just about anything. Shorts and a pocket t-shirt or chinos and an oxford cloth button down, these shoes are sure to look good. Given the range of colors (black, gray, white, red, navy, and even camo) there is sure to be a pair you’ll like. I went with the navy, and couldn’t be happier with them. Not only can I wear them with anything, but with stripes and some other navy they can look slightly nautical. As for the laces, they don’t really do anything but look good, so you can keep them untied or tied, whichever way you feel. No matter where this summer takes you, the Paseo is sure to keep your feet looking sharp.

(P.S. It's summer; ditch the socks.)

What Every Guy Needs: A Proper Umbrella

We've all been there: torrential rain, hurricane winds, and a the nine dollar umbrella you thought would work. Turns out they don't. To make sure you never find yourself there again, it's time you get a real, proper umbrella. When looking for one, treat it like you would shoes, splurge for something quality and long lasting. Not to mention it will be with you wherever you go and with whatever you're wearing. When it comes to good umbrellas, no one seems to do it better than the Brits, especially London Undercover. Here are a few of my personal favorites:

Summer Shoes: Sperry Top-Sider

Ever since Paul Sperry created the first pair in 1935, boat shoes have become a classic style staple. Their preppy, iconic look goes well with almost any summer look, whether you're on a sailboat in New England or not. Because of their simple design, they will look as good with a pair of shorts and a polo as they would a swimsuit or khakis and an oxford cloth button down. Nowadays you can get your Sperry Top-Siders in any color imaginable so you can be understated or bold. Even better, if you get a classic leather pair for this summer, not only will they still be in style next summer but they will also have that perfectly broken in look that makes them even cooler.

Menswear Essential: The Pocket Tee

Looking to step up your t-shirt game? Try out a tee with a simple pocket on it, it says a little more, "I'm a grown man with killer style," and less, "I just rolled out of bed in this t-shirt." A simple, solid color (white being the most versatile) with a slim fit will look good on anyone. For the more adventurous, a contrasting pocket can stand out well, just stay away from trendy patterned pocket on a solid tee.

Wear it with shorts and boat shoes for day at the beach, jeans for a weekend with friends, or under a blazer for a night out. Not to mention a simple, neutral pocket tee looks great under a leather or denim jacket. To make it all a little more put together, make sure you have a nice pair of shoes, preferably leather and definitely nothing too athletic.

If you're looking for a good pocket tee, check out Everlane (pictured above) for $15 or J. Crew Factory (pictured below) for $19 but is almost always on sale for less.

HE by Mango Summer 2013 Looks

In my search for something to wear to an upcoming summer wedding, I came across this picture that seemed to be the exactly what I had imagined I would wear. It's dressy enough for attending a wedding yet casual enough to wear to the ceremony on the beach. With a little more searching I was able to figure out the collection it came from (HE by Mango Summer 2013) and find the rest of the stylish summer looks. Here is the rest of the collection with its incredible blend of preppy colors and modern fit.

While browsing the website of one of my favorite leather goods company, Makr, this awesome new leather key fob couldn't help but stand out. Simple, classic, and cleverly assembled to align with your keys, it will make a great addition to any keys. Now, if I could only figure out how to get my initials embossed on the opposite side...

The Perfect Swimsuit

No matter what your body type is, your swimsuit will make or break you this summer, so here are a few tips to make sure you’re looking your best.

With all of the clothes you wear the most important aspect is fit, and swimwear is no different. Those board shorts that go past your knees and have huge cargo pockets make you look more like a preteen than the stylish man you are. The key for this summer is to go short and slim. If you are looking for a good length, try going a couple inches shorter than your shortest shorts. (You wouldn’t want an awkward tan line when you put on your shorts a few days after the beach.) If you’re still not sure on the length, aim for mid-thigh to a few inches above your knee. As for the leg opening, go narrow but not tight. If they are too wide they can give your legs appearance of being scrawny.

Once you've nailed the fit, it’s time to pick a color and pattern. Keep it simple and classic and you will never go wrong. If you are on the slim or athletic side don’t be afraid to try bright or bold colors and patterns. Just remember the brighter and bolder the pattern, the more attention you draw to yourself. If you’re a little bit heavier though, don’t worry, just stick to darker solids like navy or black.

Now that you are almost ready to choose the perfect swimwear, here are a few words of advice before you make a final decision. Stay away from elastic waists; a flat front will be more flattering and make you look trimmer. When choosing between an option with a fly and one without, the former will give you a little more modesty as you get out of the water. And finally, pick something you feel confident in and you will usually never go wrong.
